Bet Elazraki's Winter Olympics Return!

What started out as a great idea and a unique experience, has manifested into a wonderful tradition! It all started with our dear friends Benjamin Markoff and Rebecca Zagha, who have been with us for years. Starting off as volunteers in our Summer Volunteer Program, the strong bond that was formed between the two and our home has been the basis for this incredible project.

This year, Benjamiin & Rebecca have decided to challenge themselves even more. Beyond the most worthy cause of arranging this 3-day mega event at the Children's Home, with the participation of all 241 children and staff, Benjamin & Rebecca have also decided to raise donations from their friends & local communities to be designated towards building a

Parent & Child Therapy Room at Bet Elazraki's Family Intervention Center, a unique, innovative framework combining personal promotion of children along with rehabilitation of the family unit.

Currently there are 60 children who participate daily in activities at the Family Intervention Center, along with their parents. The children come from a background of severe distress, but were diagnosed with potential for rehabilitation on both personal and family level. During the day they enjoy all activities and facilities offered at the Home, including transportation to school, meals, educational and cultural enrichment, therapy sessions, plus the added value – workshops and programs with their parents. The rehabilitation program is designed for 3 years and upon successful graduation the major objective is obtained – rehabilitation of the family unit and renewed assimilation of the child in his parents' home.

The Parent & Child Therapy Room will serve a a safe haven for children and their parents, with a warm, inviting, comfortable atmosphere designed especially so that both children and parents can feel comfortable to open up, talk about and cope with the emotional and behavioural issues they face in their family unit. It will include methods of Play Therapy and sessions held by the Children's Home's staff of social workers. Yet it is much more than that - the Therapy Room will always be open. Parents and their children will be able to spend quality time together, strengthen their bond & trust in each other and build a new relationship. We could not be happier to have this project supported by Benjamin & Rebecca... After last year's success, through which a fully equipped, brand new gym was built for our teenage boys, we know that we are in great hands...
