Teens for teens - global giving

When the IFA Organization first spoke with us, we couldn't believe our ears… They had an offer for a unique, first of its kind cooperation between them and the Children's Home, which thrilled and excited us tremendously…
And to those of you who are unfamiliar with this incredible organization:
IFA – Israeli Flying Aid, is a unique organization which has made global giving its mission, based on the core humanitarian generally shared Jewish values - sanctity of life, justice, equality, freedom, compassion and respect for all people.
The organization provides humanitarian life saving aid and relief to communities in areas stricken by natural disaster or territorial conflicts, and believes that the existence of the Jewish people and the State of Israel is an undisputable fact, sharing similar unique values and forming a strong base for global giving which only strengthens us as a nation and as a state.
About a year and a half ago, the founder of the organization Gal Lusky arrived at the Children's Home for a visit, bringing with her an amazing offer for cooperation between the teenage boys and girls of Bet Elazraki and orphan children growing up in a children's village in Rwanda, Africa. The village's orphanage – the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village – managed by Mr. Nir Lahav from Israel, serves as a home for children who have experienced traumas due to the massacre which occurred in Rwanda during the tribal wars, leaving more than half a million orphans. Its mission is to educate and empower Rwanda's future generation so that they may lead their county towards a better future.
Project We Are One
Forming a youth expedition who will set out to volunteer at the orphanage. The project's mission is to empower the teenagers growing up at Bet Elazraki Children's Home while educating them for global and cross cultural giving. To grant them a life changing experience, allow them to be on the giving side after years of receiving, all while being exposed to a new, diverse culture and an opportunity to see the world. The teens will be escorted by a professional staff from the Children's Home and IFA, a doctor and a psychologist.
The more we thought about it, the more potential we saw in it, as well as the many great advantages that lay within it. Naturally, this program is not included in the regular activities taking place at the Children's Home and requires special resources. We are still at the fund raising stages, with the teenagers who will set out to the expedition also joining the effort and doing what they can to make it happen. Mrs. Sima Simone is the project manager on behalf of IFA and together with the Children's Home we are working full time to promote the project and turn it into a blessed reality.
We believe that setting out to Africa, to a 3rd world country, will provide the teeneagers a unique, different perception on their lives and the challenges that they are faced with, and will promote their personal growth.
This project promotes and is in direct line with our primary goal – fulfilling each of our children's maximum potential and rescuing them from the vicious cycle of distress.
