When you give from the heart...
What's more exciting – to give or to receive? Our wonderful children had the opportunity to test that very question and find out for the answer for themselves.
For the past two years, 30 employees of Excellence Nessuah, an Israeli Investments House, have voluntarily partaken in a Big Brother program with the children of Bet Elazraki. The children participating in the project are from 1st to 12th grades. The Big Brother Program is a unique project, taking place at the company's offices in Tel Aviv. It has opened the door for creating new, honest and real friendships between the children and new people, exposing them to a whole new world. Through these meetings our children are acquainted with various aspects of the work environment: team work, responsibility, time frames, interpersonal relationships and more, as well as getting to know people with high ranking and versatile positions. This allows them to comprehend in a most perceptible way that everything is possible, that they too can aspire, advance and succeed, and reach these goals themselves some day.
This cooperation with Excellence Nessuah has enriched the children's lives in so many ways. They have come to know very well that special feeling of being cared for by someone else, outside the Children's Home. And then a wonderful idea came along, a chance to experience how it feels to be on the giving side…
The most recent session our children had with Excellence Nessuah was a very special one for both the children and the volunteers. The idea was to make care packages to send to the soldiers of the Golani Brigade, a combat military unit which has been "adopted" by Excellence Nessuah. In this unit are soldiers who come from very difficult backgrounds, similar to those of our children. With Pesach nearing, the volunteers wanted to treat the soldiers with thoughtful packages full of goods. And there it was, a wonderful opportunity to give back. To recall the special feeling of receiving a caring gift, and to prepare and give exactly that in return. Children and volunteers alike all had a great time putting the care packages together and writing personal notes on each one. The joy felt all around as the "mission" was complete marked the project as a great success.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to our wonderful friends at Excellence Nessuah, for an amazing experience for the children. Your continuous presence in our lives is one we appreciate tremendously, more than words could ever say.
